A Moving Checklist for Things to Remember

So you are moving house? But wait, are you fully ready for the move? Let’s find out. To make your first day in your new home peaceful and happy, we have brought to you a checklist of things to remember when moving. This list will prevent possible disasters and last-minute spurs. So, before your house movers show up, let’s do a quick rundown through the list.

Pack Smartly

If you are doing this by yourself, I’d advise you to start at least a month ahead of the moving out day. Set yourself a target of one box a day. Packing at this speed would ensure that everything in the house is boxed and tagged days before the movers show up. However, if you are going to let the movers handle the packing, then at least get your effects in order so that they can finish packing quickly and systematically.

Pick the Right Kind of Boxes

A lot depends on the kind of box you choose for your items. A mover may offer you a diversity of choices in boxes. There are basic cardboard ones, sturdy plastic ones and other models. Weigh your decision on the kind of items in question. You can order a mix of two different kinds for separate items.

Let the Professionals Do the Closet

Don’t make the mistake of packing the closet yourself. The closet involves too many boxes and separate kinds of packing. So, let the house movers handle it for you. You may however take a day off to wash and iron the clothes in advance for packing.

Haul the Basics

Even if you have hired a mover for the job, you want to pack your basics yourself. You want to keep your toiletries, house wear, slippers, etc., packed and ready to move for your movers.
